The delegation of the European Union (EU) to Nigeria invites application for the post of Project Officer- Regional Cooperation.

Responsibilities
- Under the supervision the Head of the Regional Cooperation Section, the responsibilities are the following:
- Assisting in the design, appraisal and management(technical, administrative and financial) of development projects (EDF) and EC programs in the sectors foreseen in the West Africa RIP economic integration transport facilitation, conflict prevention, etc.
- Contribute to programming, identification and formulation in close cooperation with the regional organizations.
- Analyze the needs, capacities and priorities of the regional organizations to ensure that the projects address these to a maximum degree
- Assure compliance with the agreed procedures, project objectives and result indicators
- Monitoring and reporting of projects/programs, participate in steering committee meetings and other workshops or meetings related to the project.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Follow up and reporting developments related to regional cooperation and integration in West Africa, mostly related to ECOWAS (to a lesser extent UEMOA) and related African Union issues.
- Contribute to the evaluation of projects and review processes.
Communication and Networking
- Establish and maintain good/effective contacts with the regional organizations, other EU delegations, development partners involved in Regional Integration, and relevant institutions and individuals.
- State, explain and where appropriate, defend the EU policies related to regional cooperation and integration vis-à-vis the various interlocutors in ECOWAS Member states and Mauritania.
- Where necessary and under supervision, contacts with the press, public officials and other public and private partners to inform them about regional issues.
- Regular exchanges with other relevant sections of the EU delegation in the areas of trade and governance.
- Follow up and ensuring coordination with the development and economic components of the EPA negotiations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- University degree in Economics, Law, Political Science or International relations (masters or equivalent) is required.
- A university degree in development studies (MA) or equivalent is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in development cooperation project management of at least 3 years. Experience with EU and EDF procedures or similar international cooperation agencies are an advantage.
- Full computer literacy
- Good knowledge of project management and development issues
- Knowledge of regional economic integration and trade.
- Fluent in spoken and written English or French and a working level of the other.
- Excellent analytical drafting and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and autonomously and adapt to a multi-cultural environment.
